Mobile library service is one of the services which regularly organized by the Provincial Library of Bangka Belitung Province. This service aims to overcome the information gap for local communities and a way to make them closer with the library. Besides that, the Agency of Archives and Library as the local government tries to give information services to society and all at once to achieve its mission: fostering and developing a culture of reading.
On Tuesday, January 20, 2020, the target of mobile library service is visiting the State Vocational School 1 Simpang Katis, Terak, Central Bangka Regency. Some procedures are required before doing the mobile library service: selected the duty officers (a librarian from The Agency of Archive And Library), prepared the letters of duty signed by the head of the agency, and visited the target of mobile library service.
At this trip, the total of the visitors are 200 students who are coming from level 1 to level 6. They are very enthusiastic with this activity since they have never been visited by the local library or the provincial library.
The student’s favorite collections are various. For fiction books, they like to read comic and story book. For non-fiction books, they like to read science, agriculture, plantation and craft.
Hopefully, this mobile library service can ease society in obtaining information, a way to spread the information service until the remote areas, building a good cooperation between social, education and local government to improve the intellectual and cultural society.
